Ok so I have decided to work on updating my blog from the summer on. I really don't want to get more behind so this will take some time.

My Journey:
For about 5 or more years now I have had this pain in my ankle that comes and goes especially when i run or do certain workouts. So I went in to a doctor and he gave me a cortizone shot and the pain seemed to have dissapeard. So a few more years went by and the pain came back so I went to get another shot. I would just keep running my races and didn't care. I would say the pain was a good 9 or so. But if you know me, I don't really listen to my body and I can't sit and for sure can't stop running. For some reason just push through the pain run my races and limp for a while after and then it would subside a little. So now, about 5 years later the pain came back so I went to find a doctor here in Durango. He took an x-ray and said I had a huge bone spur and needed my deltoid ligament repaired. So I did my last Moab Half Marathon in March and headed into surgery on April 6th. I was really nervous because I have never been under, and I have never had surgery. It went well he put a few screws in, but wow i did not expect the scar to look like this! I was kind of freaked out, when I saw it. I could not weight bare for 6 weeks and then went into a cast at 2 weeks and then at 7 weeks in the boot for a while. After about 7 weeks I started some Physical Thereapy for about 4 weeks, but my foot would just not move=( The way that it was healing just was not right and no matter how much we tried it was stuck. Plus i couldn't walk very well at all and was in a lot of pain. Kind of like my muscles and tendons just shrunk. We decided for 3 weeks in a row I would go in and he would bend my foot up and hold it in a cast and the I would go in again the next week bend it some more and cast it. And then one more week and do it again. That did not seem to help the Dorsi Flexion, So after a few months we decided that I needed another surgery to lengthen my Achillies Tendon =( So Surgery #2 scheduled for July 27th. I wish that I had my other picture to show, but It's on my old phone so I can't get it . The surgery went well, 6 more weeks of non weight baring, and then in the boot some more after that. It really has been a long hard journey for me, I have to say that I think I have been taught a lesson of patience and also that it is ok for people to help you out, but I am really happy to have taken care of it. Its really hard to be so active and then to just be out for 6 months really just sitting around doing nothing. I had a few breakdowns I won't lie, but I got threw it. So 2 surgeries, total of 3 months non weight baring, total of 12 weeks in a cast, about 7-8 weeks in a boot, and going on 5 months of Physical Therapy 3 times a week, I am finally starting to feel the pain subsiding.The pain is still there but I finally feel like were moving along. I still don't have a lot of strength I can't go up on my ball of my foot yet or jump, but I feel the end is near. I don't think I could have done it without all the family and friends support and helping me out so thank you so much.

Lagoon it's what fun is!

Back in June we headed to Utah for a week and had to go to lagoon. My kids love amusement parks, and especially the roller coasters that they can go on. We went on Wed with my sister and my friend crystal at about 5 it started to rain and did not stop so we were all bummed and sad and had to leave. So on Friday I decided we had to go back, so off we went. This time I brought Kyle and he actually did really well and loved all of the rides. I also met my Friend from Denver and we went around with her, it was so good to see her and her cute boys. The second time the weather was perfect and we had a great time as we always do. They have a new roller coaster called Bombora and it is for sure the new favorite. We went on that one over and over as much as we could. And Ashlie tried her first one The Bat. She loved it. I love that my kids are thrill seekers especially Brandon, he always has to have his hand in the air. I love it!

Brandons last day of pre school

Brandon's last day of Pre-School! He loved school and his teachers Miss Patti, and Miss Patti were awesome. We love them so much and they are the best teachers. Brandon got the award for Mathematician award because he loves to count. He was one of the few in the class that counted over 100. Can't believe he is going into Kindergarten.

Its amazing how quick kids pick up electronics! This was back before the summer started and there kyle was playing Mario Brothers on the DS. I just thought it was so cute how much concentration was on his face.

Matthew's first Baseball game

In May Matthew started his first season of machine pitch baseball. He really had a good time and I think he did pretty well for never playing baseball before. We just need to practice at the batting cages and get ready for next year. He really had a good time and it was so fun to watch him try new things.

Spring soccer

Back in the spring Brandon started soccer. Since he was 4 he was on the "fun team" he really was not to keen on the idea of just running around with other kids and just doing drills. He is the kind of kid who does what he wants IF he wants to. So pretty much every time we would take him , he would just sit there and pout and go play on the playground . This day however he was having fun.. Kyle however got right into it. He was trying to play with all the big kids and loved it

The kids and I took a trip to St. George for Spring Break. We took a little hike up at pioneer park. It's so fun because the kids can just climb rocks and get dirty. We really had a good time.

SAND DUNES

We always have a good time playing at the sand dunes. I am not a big fan of all the sand that gets stuck in their hair and down in the diapers but what's being a kid if you can't get dirty.

Easter 2011

On Easter after church we had an Easter Egg hunt in our back yard. I am starting to think that we need to hide like 200 eggs.. They find them in a matter of 5 min.

On Saturday our town had an Easter Egg hunt in the park. One for the little guys and one for the older ones. They had a little bounce house and cookies and the Easter Bunny even rode in on a Fire truck. They got some pretty good stuff!

Kyle is such a good kid and such a wonderful helper around the house. When ever he spills he immediately goes and gets a towel and start to clean up. He loves to help me wipe the tables after dinner, and sweep. I love this kid!

I can't believe my hubby is 36 its kind of weird because it seems so close to 40. For his birthday we just had a low key party with us, Jeff is not into parties! We all went bowling and had pizza then we came home and had cake and that was it.

Ok so if any of you know me at all i LOVE bread!! I am a sucker to homemade bread and have wanted to try making it for ever, but for some reason yeast really scares me. So I have had a fear of even attempting to make bread. So i finally got brave and decided to try my mother in laws recipe because she makes the yummiest rolls ever (sorry mom) My first attempt ever, they turned out. I was so proud of my self, and was beaming from ear to ear!!

Matthew had such a fun time with basketball this year! It's amazing what one year can do, since my kids are a little vertically challenged, he could actually reach the hoop this year and make some baskets! He really learned how to be aggressive and sneak in there and steal the ball (He got that from me i was very good at that) He was really excited to get his very first metal

These are grandmas cakes made by Becky and Emily, and i helped a teeny bit. The top one is of a swimming pool, because everyone loved swimming in their pool back when they had it. The second one is just a flower cake, and the third one is a golf course.

We had such a fun family reunion we went up to farish lake for a day of fishing and a YUMMY BBQ. We just hung out there all day and just relaxed and played and enjoyed seeing everyone from all over the states. I just love Jeff's grandma and Grandpa. They are such wonderful people and an insperation to the whole family. I love to sit and hear Jeff's Grandpa tell stories. I am so greatful to have such a wonderful family on Jeff's side and it's always such a joy to get together with everyone.

Kyle's birthday was so much fun, I can't believe he is 2 already. We had Grandma and Grandpa Wursten come up, and we had 3 of our friends come over to party. We had a BBQ, and everybody brought their favorite side dish. It was a crazy party, but the kids all had a ton of fun.

On one of Jeffs day off, we decided to take a little drive and go fishing. It was so peacful and nice. Kyle and I just sat on the rocks while Jeff fished. I would just sit there and sing to him and he was just sitting in my lap. It was so cute just to suggle with him and sit in the beautiful nature. It's time like these where you have time to sit and just think about all of the things we have and my wonderful family that I have been blessed with.

Our friends the Brockbanks came to visit us before the fall and we took a trip up to silverton to show them around and to look for Gold. We had a lot of fun and the kids got some pretty cool rocks.

This year on matthew's birthday, it was very busy and crazy. We moved today to a new house down in Bayfiled so it was kind of crazy, but we managed to throw a little party. All of his friends came to Eagle Park and we just played games, played on the playground, had a pinata, ate pizza and opened presents. Can't believe you are 7 already, and that next year you will be baptized. Love you choo!

Cottle Family Reunion (Meadow Lake 2010)

This year we had such a fun reunion with my dad's side of the family. We met up at Meadow Lake in Columbia Falls MT. We stayed in some condos for the week and had such a fun time together. We swam everyday, played golf, had a talent show, went to a play, ate lots of good food, stayed up late playing games, and of course had fun getting to see each other again. It had been 5 years for me, so it was so fun to see everyone all grown up! Can't wait for the next one.

Here is Matthew playing with my cousin holly. Everynight after dinner, he and his cousing would make it a game and attack her, it would go on for at least an hour, but they loved it.

Brandons 4th Birthday was a sucess! We ended up having 2 parties on here in Bayfiled with his cousins and family from Jeff's side, and then 1 in Montana with my side of the family. My dad made balloons for all of the kids, we had a pinata, and more cake and candy. It was so much fun to be with all of our families to help B celebrate his birthday.

While they were here visiting we decided to go camping for 3 days. We had a lot of fun but prior to camping we have not had rain for months and the three days that we decided to camp it rained and rained and rained some more. So we had to get a little creative in the tents.

This is a little hike we did on our last day of camping. It was really pretty.

So this is our tent. Not a good time to find out that we need a new tent. We had to improvise a little for all of the rain we got. Mind you this tent is almost 9 years old, it was leaking pretty good.

This is basically what our sight looked like the rest of the time. I call it space camp. We had to buy a really big tarp to go over the top and then we used space blankets for the sides and puuled each of our vans on the sides to block the rain from coming in.

Also not to leave out the first night we were there, we had a little visitor in our campground at about 1 in the morning. Jeff was no there that night, so I was in my tent alone with the kids and Becky was in her tent alone with her kids, and I awoke to a loud bang in the garbage can. Which by the way was really close to our sight. Then i started to hear some growling, man that Bear was mad. I was SOOOOO freaked out, i could hardley move, I don't think my heart has ever beated so hard. I was praying and prayin that the bear would not come over to our tent, but after the garbage can, I heard him come over to our campground and he started playing with our chairs we left out under the canopy. Lets just say that was a little to close for my comfort. To hear him growling feet away form our tent without jeff there was more bear than I need to hear. Needless to say he wandered down the road, but it took me at least 2 hours to fall back asleep. The funny part was that Becky didn't even hear a thing. Good thing though because I have never been so scared. All in all it was a very fun trip even though it rained the whole time.

Visitors

This summer was full of fun and as always we love having visitors. Near the end of July we had Jeffs Brothers family come and Jeffs parents and his 2 sisters for about a week and a half. We had so much fun together and love having them come. Here are some of the things we did. There is a really fun little river in town and its perfect to tube down for the kids. It's really shallow and they have so much fun.

We decide to take the kid up to hike chimney rock, but when we got there we found out it wasnt what we thought it was and it wasnt really for the kids so Grandpa took the kids on a little nature hike before we left, so we decided to take the kids over to Pagosa Springs and found a fun hike there.

Boating at Navajo Lake

So this summer we got to go boating. YEA!! I have not been boating in way to long to even say, and the kids have never been. We have some AWESOME friends who got a boat and invited us and we had a BLAST, the kids keep asking me when we can go again. So as you can see Matthew, Ashlie and Davin trying out the water.

Here I am knee boarding for the first time as well. I got up my first time, but man getting over the wake is scary when you have not done it for a while. But, not half as bad as trying to come back.

Here we are tubing. Matthew got on for about 3 min and wanted to get off right away. Then ashlie tried it, and LOVED it. She would have gone all day if we would have let her. And here is my little Brandon soaking up some sun. He didn't want to try the tube, but he loved jusmping in the water. My kids tell us very often that we have to get a boat now.

We were driving around trying to find a good place to camp, and came upon this lake. It had a really fun campground and then we decided to take a little hike around the lake. The kids had a blast and found this fun log to play on. I love colorado and the beautiful mountains we have.

Water World

Back in June we went to Water World. The Kids are really into swimming now and had the best time ever. Kyle went to a sitter, and we ended up staying until it closed. I think their favortie part was the wave pool. I wish I could have gotten better pictures but I didnt have my camera with us half of the time.

This year we headed up to Colorado Springs. We had a lot of fun with family and had a yummy BBQ and fireworks. On Saturday we went to a baseball game (sorry did not bring the camera) and they did Fireworks there. It was a really good show and the kids loved it. Kyle was not so sure at first, but he loved them.

We decided to take a drive to navajo lake and go swimming. While we were there, we met a really nice couple and they took each of the kids for a boat ride. The kids thought it was awesome, becuase they have never been on a boat. Matthew told me that we have to get one. I totally agree with him

Tinfoil dinners

Way back, on Memorial weekend we went up to the lake and had tinfoil dinners, and smores. We had a really good time and my parents, and Jeffs sister shauna came for the weekend. Unfortunatly my mom had a bit of the flu this day. We had a really good time and the kids loved playin in the hammock.

The kids LOVE going swimming. Brandon is getting really daring and loves going down the waterslide the whole time. Matthew is now going off the diving board and loves it. I wish we could have gotten some pics of him doing that.

9 Years and counting!

On the 16th we celebrated our 9th Anniversary! I can't believe how fast 9 years has gone, and what we have been through in those 9 years. I can remember the day that Jeff proposed to me and couldn't believe it. I am so happy to be married to such a WONDERFUL guy and a great dad. I could not have have asked for a better companion and look forward to our future. I love you so much Jeff !!

Steamworks Animas Valley Half Marathon

On Saturday the 19th my friend Jessica and I ran in the Steamworks Animas Valley Half Marathon, here in durango. It was such a beautiful, hot sunny day. The race was ok for me, once again my feet were hurting so bad by mile 6. It was not my best race and it was hilly. The last 2-3 miles had some good hills. Why can't those be at the beginning? I still had a lot of fun, and I was really bummed, because Jeff was actually going to be able to see one of my races, and he didn't make it there in time. He and the kids missed me by 5 min. Now I have to get my feet fixed before I can do anymore races!!

Matthews T-Ball

Matthew just finished up T-Ball season. He had such a good time, and was really getting the hang of it. His coach was great with the kids, and at the last game he had a pizza party and cake and drinks for everyone.

Utah Valley Half Marathon 2010

My friend Jessica and I went up to Utah last weekend and ran the Utah Valley Half Marathon. We had a really good time! The race started at 5:30 am i know CRAZY!! It was kind cold which is why we are wearing the garbage bags. It really helps keep you warm. At the begenning we got drizzled on a bit and it was overcast and in the 50's the whole race. It felt kind of good though to be cool. I really enjoyed this one, and I think i will do it again. I ended up finishing the race in 1:53 min. I beat my time in moab by 1 min yea..

Lagoon 2010

We took a trip to utah for 12 days, and it was so fun to be able to visit with family and friends. We stayed at my sisters first, and had fun going to parks, eating way to many Dunford donuts (YUMMY), swimming, and many other fun things. Our biggest thing was that we took the kids to lagoon! They were so excited, they have never been to an amusement park of any kind and they LOVED it. We were there from 11:30 until 10 :40 pm when they closed. Brandon was crying when we had to leave 1 because he was WAY tired and 2 he didn't understand that it was closing and he wanted to keep going. We had a blast and they beg my all of the time to go back. So maybe we will=)

The other day we decide to go up to the lake and have a BBQ , and eat smores with some friends. We all had a really good time and the kids really enjoyed playing in the water and the mud. We had no idea it was going to be so muddy, but they love it. You should have seen our bathtub after bathing 4 dirty,nasty kids=)

Ashlies spring program

A few weeks ago, Ashlie had her spring program. The songs were so cute, and we LOVED her teachers Miss Patti and Miss Patti. We will miss them next year, and I can't believe my little ashlie will be in Kindergarten. CRAZY!!

My 32nd Birthday

Well another year has come and gone. I am now 32 and I am looking it. I feel like I have to may wrinkles in my face, I guess I should stay out of the sun more. I had a really fun Birthday got to go to McDonalds with Jeff and the kids ( I know you are all jealous), then we had some friends over and had a BBQ and cake. For my Birthday Jeff got me a Garmin GPS watch,some flowers, and with my money I am ordering me a swimsuit. I have not had one for over a year. The kids really LOVE celebrating birthday's so it's always so fun to see how excited they get.

Yesterday I got to go all day and watch Matthew participate in field day. It was a lot of fun to see all the kids. The first picture is of the hurdles, I thought they were the cutest little things ever. Matthew's events were the 50m dash, shot put, discus, running long jump, and the relay.

A lesson in Honesty

Yesterday I took my kids into the gas station to get a treat, and they saw a guy walking in drop his wallet. I was getting Kyle out of the car, and they were walking over to get it. I was telling them to come back over to me, and Matthew said "mom that guy droped his wallet" so I told them to pick it up and we would take it in. The guy was walking out and didn't even notice it was gone, so we asked him if he droped his wallet. He was happy he got it back and told us his pants had a hole in it, and it was just habbit to put it there. So they picked out there treat and as we were coming out, he came up to me and asked if he could give the kids a reward for giving him his wallet back and just told me that he got paid and had 500 cash in it, so he was very greatful. I told him he did not need to do that, but he insisted and gave the kids a 10 dollar bill. They were so happy and we talked how good it is to be honest.

Poor Brandon

So when Brandon got out of bed this morning I saw all of this blood on his head. I asked him what had happened, and he told me he fell out of bed. I was thinking wow that was some fall. I asked him what he hit his head on, and he showed me his train tracks. I felt so bad, because he did not even come and get us. Guess he didn't even know either. There is some blood on the floor and his pillow, and his big giant dog.

Canyoneering trip 2010

Over spring Break we were able to go Canyoneering in Zions National Park. We started at 6 am and headed up angles landing hike. When you get to the top, you go the other way towards scouts lookout and continue hiking another hour and a half or so. When we got up there and started heading towards the canyon there was a lot more snow than we anticapated and wanted. We were a little unsure what the canyon was going to be like, because we did NOT want to get wet. So we continued on through the canyon climbing over lots of snow, it was really not that warm of a day, maybe mid 50's with some wind. We finally made it to our first repel and had some lunch before we went down. Brandon went down first and we realized our ropes were not long enough. At that point we were debating if we should go down or not. We all did and when we went down the second repel we really realized there was NO way of finishing the canyon with our ropes. So at this point we had an option of gettin back up , it would have been a challenge to get to the top, but we still had a chance. 1 more repel and there was so turning back. So we sat and debated what to do and low and behold another group came up behind us. They were so nice and let us go through the canyon with them. Thankgoodness, because I did not want to try and get back up and hike back the whole way we just came. Although I would pick that over spending a night in the canyon. Over all we had a fun time, but it was cold. The 3 rd repel was the one that got us pretty wet, and man was that COLD!! And the second to the last repel got us wet again. Let's just say that I don't think I will ever repel this early in the season. To much snow and water, but after a long 12 hour hike we really did have a good time!

Glen Canyon Dam

On our way home from St. George we stopped at Glen Canyon Dam, that is Lake Powell behind it. It was so cool and the kids really thought it was cool. We took a little walk across the bridge, and looked down. I guess you can take a tour, I have always wanted to take a tour, I think It would be really cool

Easter egg dying and hunt

We had a fun easter egg hunt this year more like a 1,2 ,3 go and the candy is gone in 5 sec, but it is fun none the less. This year we went to St. George for easter and my sister and her family came down. It was so Fun to be with family and to have conference as well.

Sand Dunes

We deicided to try out the sand dunes and the kids had a blast. It was the perfect day, I think we could have stayed there all day! Kyle was loving the sand as well as eating it.

Moab Half Marathon

Moab was so fun this year. My best Friend and her husband brought up a trailer and my mom, and barts brother chad and Dora came and we all stayed in the cozy trailer. 2 of my friends here Pam and Jessica have been training hard each weekend and had such a fun time running the race together. We all had a goal of getting in around 2 hours, and to be honsest with you, I was just going to be happy with anything under 2 and half. But we all did AWESOME and finished under 2 hours. My time was 1:54:29 I have never done one that fast, so I was so proud of my self. It was so fun to run with these girls and look forward to June and many more races. Hopefully my ankle will let me, bu that is another story. Thanks for all who came to support. See you next year

We had a lot of fun celebrating Jeff's birthday! The always get really ec=xcited when there is a birthday. It was kind of low key this year, we had one of his fav meals at a resturaunt called back porch BBQ they have some of the best ribs I have ever tasted, then we had brownies and presents. Matthew asked me if any friends were coming over and I told him no. He said that's boring, and i explainded to him that when you get older you don't have parties like you do.

Random stuff

so not a lot going on now, just taking care of the kids and such. But I do have to post for those of you who don't do facebook, I QUIT DRINKING SODA!! This was such a hard thing for me to do, but moving out here to a town of nothing has made me a much healthier person. There is no where to go out to eat, so we rarely do, and now that i am running again I feel so much healthier, and quiting feels even better. I hope that I never go back to drinking my beloved Diet Dr. Pepper again, because I do love the way i feel even if it is just in my mind. There are 3 other girls here who are running with me and we are training for the Moab Half Marathon in March. It's fun to have a little group to run with and makes it go by fast. Things are going good here, Jeff's work is getting busier by the month so we are happy about that. Its still quite the adjustment for me, why can't they just have a target and and old navy or Gap. Where am I supposed to buy my kids clothes?? Anyway enough ranting.

Here is Ashlie at her party with her friends. She wanted to have a costume party so all of the littel kids came in them. It was like halloween all over again. We just had fun playing games and eating cake and opening presents. The kids had a good time just playing in the basement for a while to.

Here is Ashlie on her actuall birthday. One thing that she asked for that we had to make sure and get her was roses. It was so cute! She got a lot of fun toys babies and dogs and barbies, clothes, purse, make-up, a camera which she has been begging us for ever, art stuff, jewlery, gift cards and a little money. Man 5 year olds are spoiled, but I love it!

On January 31st Ashlie turned 5. Her Birthday was on a Sunday, so on Saturday she requested to go sleding and have milkshakes, so that's what we did. Then on Sunday after church we had cupcakes and opened presents and spent the day playing with all of her new stuff. Then yesterday on the 6th of Feb she had a party with her friends over. I can't believe she is 5 already!

Fire Station

Yesterday we went to the Fire station for playgroup. They really went all out to give us a good tour and let the kids play with everything. It took Brandon a bit to warm up, but by the end he wa having a lot of fun. Here is Brandon using the hose. I got to try it too, I was the only mom who treid and it was really fun.

They pulled out the truck and raised the ladder. Then he climbed to the top.

Basketball

We put the kids in Basketball this year. They have had a few practices, and they have their first game next Saturday. They both love it, and it's so fun to watch them since they have never played, and it will be interesting to see how they are at the end of the season.

Our sledding hill

We have this really cool sledding hill on the other side of the dam. The kids love to go there and sled and play in the snow. Most of the time though they just had a really good time going down on their butts. It was pretty funny!

Durango Mountain resort

Last Saturday I went skiing with a friend. It was my first time in 9 years. I was actually a little scared to try it again, but once I got going I had a blast. I hope I can go a few more times this season.
